主要从事生物制品检验、生物制品质量标准及检定方法研究；同时，还承担药品、保健食品、化妆品的微生物学检验及其方法学研究、抗生素效价测定、洁净区（室）环境监测、微生物鉴定及溯源分析、生物制品及微生物检测技术培训等工作。现有博士4人、硕士8人，高级职称5人。拥有理化实验室、免疫化学实验室、细胞实验室、分子生物学实验室、效价测定室、微生物检测用洁净实验室及二级生物安全实验室等多种功能实验室，总面积约2000m²。配备有液相色谱仪、气相色谱仪、全自动琼脂糖凝胶电泳仪、多功能酶标仪、无菌隔离器、微生物鉴定质谱系统、全自动微生物鉴定及药敏分析系统、实时荧光定量PCR仪等精密仪器设备。多年来，科室在无偿培训企业技术人员方面做出了突出贡献，完成国家药典任务及广东省科技计划项目等十余项，具有较强的检验检测相关科研能力。

　　The primary duties of the department are biological products testing, along with research on quality standards and testing methods of biologics. It is also responsible for microbiological assay and methodology study for medicines, health-care foods and cosmetics, antibiotic potency testing, environmental monitoring of clean rooms, microbial identification and traceability analysis, as well as technical training in biologics testing and microbiological assay. There is a professional technical team containing 4 members with PhDs, 8 members with master’s degrees, and 5 members with senior professional titles. The department has a variety of advanced laboratories, including physical and chemical lab, immunochemistry lab, cell lab, molecular biology lab, antibiotic potency lab, microbiology testing lab and BSL-2 lab, with a total area of about 2000 m², equipped with HPLC, GC, automatic agarose gel electrophoresis apparatus, multimode microplate reader, aseptic isolator, MALDI-TOF Biotyper, automatic microbial identification and drug sensitivity analysis system, real-time PCR, etc. Over the years, the department has made outstanding contributions to the voluntary training of technical personnel for enterprises. In addition, it has accomplished more than 10 research projects launched by the Chinese Pharmacopoeia Commission and the Guangdong Science and Technology Department, confirming strong inspection and testing related scientific research capability.
